Various types of electrical conduits are available today. Technically speaking, conduits are classified on the basis of the wall thickness of the tubing, its mechanical stiffness - whether it is flexible or rigid and the material used for making the tube of the conduit system. Your electrician's choice of conduit will depend on its application. At homes, wiring systems are simpler and the power requirements are relatively low so simpler conduits may be installed but in the case of heavy industries, conduits with thicker walls may be required as industries typically use large currents and higher voltages. In addition, the choice of conduit also depend on the fact whether it is to be used indoors or outdoor. Usually, PVC conduits are recommended for underground or wet area.

The thicker flexible metal conduit is full wall and the thinner wall product is Reduced Wall flexible metal conduit. Full Wall is more robust and is specified where the specification calls for extra mechanical protection. The Reduced wall flexible conduit is available in both high-grade galvanized steel and an aluminum alloy strip of uniform gauge for an excellent combination of strength and durability. Reduced wall flexible conduit can be used in flexible metal raceway systems for electrical power, communication cables, motor leads, listed assemblies and wire fixtures and manufactured wiring systems.

The TC-500 Series set to join lengths of steel EMT raceways together. The TC-500 Series zinc set screw connectors are used to secure and terminate steel EMT raceways to knockocks in boxes and enclosures. Both are for use in concretetight or dry location applications.
